Please note: All prices are for cases.
The LOPEZ® Enteral Valve (0056000) is a medical-grade three-way stopcock designed to maintain a closed enteral system during irrigation, medication administration, and gastric drainage. By utilizing this valve (0056000), healthcare providers can access nasogastric (NG) or other enteral tubes without the frequent disconnection of feeding lines or the use of manual plugs. The device (0056000) is engineered to reduce clinician exposure to potentially infectious gastric secretions and bloodborne pathogens by providing a secure, leak-resistant port for syringe access.
Constructed from durable polycarbonate and polyethylene, the LOPEZ® Valve (0056000) features a universal adapter that allows for a secure connection to most standard feeding sets and enteral tubes. This adult-sized valve (0056000) is specifically designed to facilitate continuous gastric lavage and high-volume sumping when used in conjunction with dual-lumen stomach tubes. The integrated stopcock allows for easy switching between the suction/feeding source and the medication port, streamlining routine enteral care while maintaining a hygienic clinical environment.
Key Features
-
Three-Way Stopcock Design: Enables seamless transitions between feeding, suction, and medication administration without opening the system to air.
-
Closed-System Integrity: Significantly reduces the risk of splashing or environmental contamination from gastric fluids.
-
Universal Adapter: Designed for compatibility with standard enteral feeding sets, suction tubing, and NG tubes.
-
Integrated Medication Port: Provides a dedicated access point for syringes, eliminating the need for constant line manipulation.
-
Latex-Free Construction: Manufactured without natural rubber latex to ensure patient and clinician safety.
Ideal Clinical Applications
- Institutional Enteral Nutrition: Optimized for the administration of continuous or bolus feedings for non-ambulatory patients within institutional care suites.
- Gastric Decompression and Suction: Specifically indicated for patients requiring intermittent or continuous gastric suctioning while maintaining an irrigation port.
- Medication Administration Protocols: Provides a secure, dedicated port for the delivery of liquid or crushed medications without breaking the primary suction/feeding line.
- Clinical Gastric Sampling: Used in acute care settings to facilitate the clean collection of gastric aspirate for pH testing or diagnostic analysis.
- In-Line Irrigation and Flushing: The three-way feature allows for safer, more efficient clinical flushing of the nasogastric tube to prevent clogging and maintain patency.

Contraindications
Do not use this device for the administration of intravenous (IV) fluids or medications, as this can lead to catastrophic medical errors and significant patient injury.
Do not use this valve on pediatric or neonatal tubing sets if the tapered connectors do not provide a verified, secure fit.
Warnings & Precautions
Ensure the stopcock lever is fully clicked into the desired position before initiating feeding or suction. An unseated valve is a high-risk leakage and exposure hazard.
Ensure that the medicinal port cap is securely tethered and closed when not actively being used for administration to prevent the backflow of gastric contents.
Always ensure the valve is flushed according to facility protocol after medication delivery to prevent the buildup of residue that could seize the internal stopcock mechanism.
Monitor the valve for cracks, leaks, or stiffness in the lever. If the polycarbonate housing shows signs of crazing or the valve becomes difficult to turn, the unit must be replaced immediately to maintain the safety integrity of the enteral circuit.
Clean the external surfaces of the valve regularly with non-abrasive institutional-grade disinfectants. Avoid using harsh chemical solutions that may degrade the integrity of the plastic housing over time.
