Z-Flo™ Fluidized Positioner Neonatal & Pediatric, 9 x 15 in, 6/cs

Please note: All prices are for cases.

Mölnlycke® Z-Flo™ Fluidized Positioners (1400239) are highly specialized medical tools designed to provide custom anatomical offloading and pressure redistribution for neonatal and pediatric patients. Utilizing a patented fluidized medium—a combination of viscous fluid, microspheres, and polyethylene beads—these positioners feature "Zero Memory" technology. This allows the device to be molded by hand into a specific shape that mirrors the infant’s or child’s anatomy and holds that shape indefinitely until remolded, providing far more stable and therapeutic support than traditional foam wedges or towels.

The 9" x 15" dimensions are specifically scaled for use in the NICU and pediatric care settings, offering targeted support for fragile patients. Because the fluidized material does not react to gravity or shift over time, it maintains a consistent "micro-mold" that reduces peak stresses on vulnerable tissue and supports developmental positioning. This positioner is engineered to manage the unique clinical needs of pediatric patients, ensuring that therapeutic positioning is maintained without the frequent manual readjustments required by traditional positioning aids.

Key Features

  • Fluidized Conformational Positioning: Moldable medium conforms to any anatomical shape and remains in place without "flowing" or shifting due to gravity.

  • Zero Memory Technology: Once molded to a specific shape or divot, the positioner holds that form until a clinician manually remolds it.

  • Pediatric-Scaled 9" x 15" Dimensions: Optimized for the small frames of neonatal and pediatric patients, providing precise support for the head, torso, or extremities.

  • Pressure and Shear Reduction: Engineered to maximize surface contact area, effectively minimizing the force and friction that lead to pressure injuries.

  • Diagnostic Compatibility: The positioner is MR Safe and safe for use in CT; it can be used during X-ray, though imaging through the device should be minimized to avoid distortion.

Ideal Clinical Applications

  • Developmental Positioning: Used in the NICU to support midline orientation and therapeutic containment for premature infants.

  • Pediatric Occiput Offloading: Ideal for creating a custom cradle to protect the vulnerable head and neck area in bed-bound pediatric patients.

  • Neonatal Limb Stabilization: Provides a stable, molded boundary to support extremities and maintain clinical alignment during recovery.

Contraindications Do not use this product on patients or users with a known hypersensitivity to the polyurethane film or internal fluidized components. Do not autoclave or microwave this device.

Warnings & Precautions CAUTION: A positioner cover or linen must be used between the patient's skin and the positioner at all times during use. Patients must be properly supervised and monitored in healthcare facilities when using positioners; do not allow patients to lie face down on the positioner unless closely monitored due to the risk of suffocation.

Replace the product promptly if it is punctured or damaged. If a puncture occurs, place the positioner in a sealed plastic bag immediately to avoid spillage of the contents, which may create a slip and fall hazard. If contents spill, clean the area with a degreaser. When molding the product, do not use fingernails and avoid wearing rings with raised or sharp edges to prevent accidental punctures.

This device is for single patient use only but can travel with the patient across different levels of care. When soiled, clean the positioner surface with a hospital-approved disinfectant; do not submerge. If the product loses its ability to hold a molded shape over time, it should be discarded and replaced.
