Please note: All prices are for cases.

The Solventum Fibracol™ Plus (SKU 2984) is a sterile, advanced wound filler composed of a unique combination of 90% collagen and 10% calcium alginate. This specific 3/8" x 3/8" x 15 3/4" (1cm x 1cm x 40cm) rope configuration is engineered for the management of deep, tunneled, or undermined wounds. By combining the structural support of collagen with the high-absorbency and gel-forming properties of alginate, Fibracol™ Plus maintains a physiologically moist microenvironment conducive to granulation tissue formation and epithelialization. The rope is designed to remain intact when wet, allowing for easy, one-piece removal while effectively managing moderate-to-heavy exudate.

Key Features

  • 90% Collagen / 10% Alginate Composition: Provides a natural scaffold for cellular growth while the alginate component handles fluid, making it twice as absorbent as traditional collagen dressings.
  • Specialized Rope Geometry: The 15 3/4" length is specifically designed for packing deep cavities and narrow tunnels, ensuring the dressing reaches the base of the wound to prevent premature surface closure.
  • Non-Adherent Gel Formation: Upon contact with wound exudate, the dressing transforms into a soft, conformable gel that protects the wound bed and facilitates trauma-free removal.
  • Maintains Structural Integrity: Unlike standard alginates that may lose shape, Fibracol™ Plus maintains its integrity when saturated, ensuring that no fibers or residues are left behind in the wound.
  • Hemostatic Properties: The collagen-alginate matrix provides superior hemostatic properties compared to collagen alone, making it an excellent choice for minor bleeding surface wounds.

Ideal Clinical Applications

  • Deep Pressure Injuries: The primary choice for packing Stage III and IV pressure ulcers (sacral, ischial) where cavity depth and exudate management are priorities.
  • Tunneled and Undermined Wounds: The flexible rope design allows for precise placement into narrow tracks to ensure all dead space is filled.
  • Diabetic Foot and Venous Ulcers: Provides a stabilized healing environment for chronic lower-extremity wounds that require both moisture balance and structural support.
  • Surgical Dehiscence and Trauma: Ideal for managing open surgical wounds or traumatic lacerations healing by secondary intention.
  • Donor Sites and Second-Degree Burns: Protects delicate new tissue while managing the high fluid volumes often associated with partial-thickness injuries.

Important Safety Information

Contraindications: Do not use on patients with a known sensitivity to collagen or alginates. Not indicated for third-degree burns or wounds with active vasculitis.

Packing Instruction: When using the rope in deep cavities, pack the wound loosely. Over-packing can cause pressure on the wound bed and impede blood flow to the healing tissue.

Minimal Exudate Protocol: For wounds with minimal drainage, the dressing should be moistened with sterile saline prior to application to initiate the gel-forming process and prevent the rope from adhering to the wound bed.

Change Frequency: Dressing should be changed when the secondary cover dressing reaches capacity or according to standard clinical protocol (typically every 2 to 4 days, or daily for heavily exuding wounds).
