Acelity Promogran® PRISMA Matrix Wound Dressing - Matrix Rope, 3/8" x 12 5/8", 6/ct, 4 ct/cs

Please note: All prices are for cases.

The Solventum Promogran Prisma™ Matrix (SKU MA032) is a sterile, advanced primary dressing designed specifically for the management of deep, tunneled, or undermined wounds. This specialized 3/8" x 12 5/8" (1cm x 32cm) rope is composed of a freeze-dried composite of 55% Collagen, 44% Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose (ORC), and 1% Silver-ORC. Engineered to "re-start" healing in stalled chronic wounds, the matrix binds and inactivates destructive proteases (MMPs) while providing a sustained antimicrobial barrier. Upon contact with wound fluid, the rope transforms into a soft, conformable, and biodegradable gel that ensures intimate contact with irregular wound surfaces, maintaining a physiologically moist environment conducive to granulation and epithelialization.

Key Features

  • Triple-Action Rope Formulation: Combines collagen scaffolding, protease-modulating ORC, and antimicrobial silver to address the biochemical imbalances and bioburden found in chronic wound environments.
  • Specialized Rope Geometry: The narrow 3/8" width and 12 5/8" length are optimized for packing deep cavities and narrow tunnels, ensuring the therapy reaches the wound base to prevent premature surface closure.
  • Protease Management: Specifically targets and neutralizes excess Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs) and elastase, which are known to degrade growth factors and stall the healing process in chronic wounds.
  • Sustained Antimicrobial Barrier: Contains 1% Silver-ORC (ionically bound), providing broad-spectrum protection against common wound pathogens without the cellular toxicity often seen in high-load silver products.
  • Biodegradable Gel Transformation: The matrix naturally absorbs into the body over time, eliminating the need for painful mechanical removal from deep tunnels and protecting delicate new tissue.

Ideal Clinical Applications

  • Tunneled and Undermined Wounds: The flexible rope format allows for precise packing of narrow tracks and areas of tissue separation that are difficult to reach with standard sheet dressings.
  • Deep Pressure Injuries: A primary choice for packing Stage III and IV pressure ulcers (sacral, ischial) that are clear of necrotic tissue but remain in a chronic inflammatory state.
  • Complex Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFUs): Highly effective for deep, narrow diabetic wounds where bioburden and high protease levels are impeding closure.
  • Venous Leg Ulcers (VLUs): Provides stabilized healing for chronic lower-extremity wounds that require both moisture balance and antimicrobial protection.
  • Surgical Dehiscence and Traumatic Cavities: Ideal for managing open surgical sites or traumatic injuries healing by secondary intention that require biochemical "re-balancing."

Important Safety Information

Contraindications: Do not use on patients with a known sensitivity to collagen, silver, or oxidized regenerated cellulose. Not indicated for use on third-degree burns.

MRI Safety Status: Promogran Prisma™ is MRI Unsafe. Due to the silver content, the dressing must be removed from the patient before they enter an MRI suite to prevent potential heating or imaging interference.

Wound Preparation: The wound bed must be clear of necrotic tissue and eschar before application. This dressing is a biochemical modulator, not a debriding agent.

Secondary Dressing Requirement: This is a primary filler and must be covered with an appropriate secondary dressing (e.g., foam, absorbent pad, or film) to maintain the vacuum or moist seal.

Change Frequency: Reapply the matrix daily or according to physician recommendation (typically every 24 to 72 hours). It is not necessary to remove residual gel during changes; simply cleanse the wound and add a fresh rope.
