Kerramax Care™ Super-Absorbent Dressing - 4" x 4", 10/bx

Please note: All prices are for boxes.

The Solventum Kerramax Care™ Super-Absorbent Dressing (SKU PRD500-050) is a sterile, non-adhesive primary or secondary dressing designed for the management of moderately to highly exuding wounds. This 4 inch x 4 inch (10 cm x 10 cm) square dressing is the standard precision size for localized high-drainage areas. It utilizes an Exu-Safe™ super-absorbent core to wick and lock away wound fluid, and because it is non-bordered, it offers maximum versatility for use under compression bandages or on patients with extremely sensitive skin where adhesives are contraindicated.

Key Features

  • Exu-Safe™ Technology: The advanced super-absorbent core is designed to absorb and retain high volumes of exudate, locking it vertically within the dressing to prevent lateral spread and protect the periwound skin from maceration.
  • Non-Adhesive Profile: Lacks an integrated adhesive border, making it an ideal choice for patients with high-risk "paper-thin" skin or for use in conjunction with specialized securement systems like compression wraps.
  • Superior Fluid Retention: Engineered to hold absorbed fluid and sequestered bacteria even when subjected to external mechanical pressure from compression therapy or patient movement.
  • Vertical Wicking Action: Rapidly moves moisture away from the wound bed into the center of the dressing, keeping the wound edges dry and maintaining an environment conducive to healing.
  • Heat-Sealed Perimeter: The edges are fully heat-sealed to prevent the leakage of internal super-absorbent polymers into the wound bed, ensuring the dressing remains intact throughout its wear time.
  • Water-Resistant Outer Layer: Features a breathable, water-resistant top layer that prevents fluid strike-through (leakage) while allowing for moisture vapor exchange to support skin integrity.

Ideal Clinical Applications

  • High-Exudate Chronic Wounds: Primary choice for managing drainage in localized pressure injuries, venous leg ulcers, and diabetic foot ulcers.
  • Venous Leg Ulcers (VLUs): Highly effective for use as a primary absorbent layer under multi-layer compression bandage systems.
  • Small Surgical Dehiscence: Effectively manages fluid output from smaller open surgical sites or laparoscopy ports that have begun to drain.
  • Secondary Dressing Support: Often used to secure and provide extra absorption over primary fillers (such as alginates or specialty gauzes) in deep cavity wounds.
  • Fragile Skin/Geriatric Care: The non-adhesive format is specifically indicated for patients at high risk for Medical Adhesive Related Skin Injury (MARSI).

Important Safety Information

Do Not Cut: This dressing must not be cut. Cutting the dressing breaks the heat-sealed perimeter and the internal matrix, which will cause the super-absorbent material to leak into the wound and lead to total dressing failure.

Securement Required: As a non-adhesive dressing, this product requires a secondary securement method (such as medical tape, a transparent film dressing, or a compression wrap) to remain in place.
