The Solventum Medipore™ +Pad (SKU 3573) is a sterile, all-in-one island dressing designed for professional clinical use. This specific 3 1/2" x 13 3/4" (9cm x 35cm) configuration features a large 1 3/4" x 11 3/4" (4.5cm x 30cm) non-adherent central pad, making it the standard choice for long surgical incisions and linear trauma. The dressing is constructed with a soft, breathable cloth tape backing that provides exceptional multi-directional stretch to accommodate post-operative swelling and patient movement. By combining a highly absorbent pad with a hypoallergenic adhesive border, the Medipore™ +Pad simplifies the wound-dressing process, eliminating the need for separate gauze and tape while providing a secure, skin-friendly barrier.

Key Features

  • Soft Cloth Tape Backing: The porous, non-woven polyester backing is highly breathable, allowing for the efficient exchange of moisture vapor and oxygen, which significantly reduces the risk of skin maceration.
  • Non-Adherent Absorbent Pad: Features a specialized central island pad that absorbs light-to-moderate exudate without sticking to the wound bed, ensuring pain-free removal and protecting newly formed granulation tissue.
  • Sterile and Latex-Free: To ensure patient safety and facility compliance, these dressings are 100% latex-free and individually wrapped to maintain a sterile field until the point of application.
  • Multi-Directional Stretch: The conformable fabric backing is engineered to flex with body movement and accommodate anatomical swelling, making it ideal for joints and long-incision sites.
  • Hypoallergenic Adhesive: The medical-grade adhesive provides a reliable, long-lasting hold while being gentle enough for sensitive or fragile skin, ensuring minimal trauma upon dressing changes.

Ideal Clinical Applications

  • Post-Surgical Incision Management: The primary choice for long surgical sites, including orthopedic joint replacements (hip/knee) and spinal procedures where linear coverage is required.
  • Lacerations and Abrasions: Provides a secure and comfortable barrier for acute traumatic wounds, shielding the injury from external contaminants while managing minor drainage.
  • Light-to-Moderately Draining Wounds: Effective for managing chronic wounds, such as pressure ulcers or venous leg ulcers, that are in the middle-to-late stages of healing.
  • IV Catheter Sites: Can be used to secure and protect large-bore IV sites or central lines where a soft cloth interface is preferred for patient comfort.
  • Minor Burns: Offers a breathable, non-adherent protective layer for partial-thickness burns, maintaining the moist environment necessary for re-epithelialization.

Important Safety Information

Skin Tension Warning: To prevent mechanical skin trauma (tension blisters), do not stretch the dressing during application. Apply the center of the dressing first and gently smooth the adhesive borders outward without pulling.

Hemostasis Requirement: Ensure that active bleeding is controlled and adequate hemostasis is achieved at the wound or catheter site before applying the dressing.

Adhesion Protocol: For optimal performance, the skin must be clean, dry, and free of any detergent or prep-liquid residue. Shaving is not recommended; however, clipping excess hair at the site may be necessary for a secure seal.

Latex Status: This product and its packaging are 100% Latex-Free, making it safe for use on patients and staff with natural rubber latex sensitivities.
