The Solventum Transpore™ Surgical Tape (1527-0) is a professional-grade, transparent plastic medical tape specifically engineered for the precision securement of lightweight dressings and clinical devices in small or difficult-to-reach anatomical areas. This tape features a specialized perforated polyethylene film that facilitates effortless, bi-directional hand tearing, allowing clinicians to customize both the length and width of the tape without the need for surgical scissors. The high-tack, hypoallergenic, pressure-sensitive acrylate adhesive is formulated to deliver a reliable, long-term bond for up to 72 hours, maintaining its performance even when applied to damp or pre-prepped skin surfaces.
This specific 1/2-inch width configuration is the narrowest standard institutional size, optimized for the precision securement of facial dressings, small-gauge IV lines, and ophthalmic shields. The transparent nature of the film provides a critical clinical advantage by allowing for continuous visual monitoring of the underlying skin and the securement site without requiring the removal of the tape. Its breathable, macro-perforated construction supports the natural skin barrier by allowing for the exchange of air and moisture vapor, thereby reducing the risk of maceration during extended wear in acute, pediatric, and outpatient care settings.
Key Features
- Precision 1/2-Inch Width: Optimized for the securement of small dressings, facial applications, and intricate device placement.
- Bi-Directional Perforated Film: Engineered for clean, straight tearing by hand in both horizontal and vertical directions for rapid, tool-free application.
- Continuous Site Visualization: Transparent material allows for immediate identification of complications, infusion site changes, or skin irritation.
- High Initial Tack: Specifically designed to provide superior initial and long-term security on both dry and damp skin surfaces.
- Hypoallergenic Adhesive: Clinically tested to be non-sensitizing, making it suitable for a diverse range of patient populations, including pediatrics.
Ideal Clinical Applications
- Facial and Ophthalmic Securement: Ideal for securing eye patches, shields, or small facial gauze where a narrow profile is required.
- Small-Gauge IV Anchoring: Provides reliable stabilization for pediatric or small-bore infusion sets and medical tubing.
- Clinical Monitoring Protocols: Indicated for use where visual inspection of the insertion point or periwound skin is required by facility protocol.
-
Precision Dressing Fixation: Secures small primary dressings and non-adherent pads in contoured anatomical areas.

Important Safety Information
Contraindications
Do not use this product as the primary securement method for critical life-support equipment, such as endotracheal tubes or arterial lines, where a high-strength, high-tack adhesive specifically rated for critical life support is mandated.
Do not apply this tape directly to infected wound beds, deep cavity wounds, or areas of active hemorrhage.
Warnings & Precautions
Do not apply Transpore™ tape under tension. Applying medical tape with "stretch" can cause mechanical tension-induced skin injury, including localized blistering or epidermal stripping once the tape attempts to return to its original state.
Ensure the application site is clean and dry before use. While this product is designed to hold on damp skin, the presence of topical ointments, oily residues, or heavy moisture will significantly degrade the initial performance of the pressure-sensitive acrylate adhesive.
This tape has a higher adhesion level than paper tapes. For patients with known extremely fragile skin, clinicians should use extra caution or consider a gentler adhesive option like Micropore™ to minimize the risk of skin tears.
To remove properly, loosen the tape's leading edge and remove "low and slow" in the direction of hair growth while stabilizing the skin with the other hand. Do not pull the tape perpendicular to the skin.
Store the product in a cool, dry environment (50-80°F) to maintain adhesive integrity. Exposure to extreme heat or high humidity may affect product performance and shelf life.
