Posey® (TIDI Products) Chair Sensors (8309) are specialized fall prevention components designed for use with Posey® fall monitoring systems to alert caregivers when a patient attempts to rise from a chair. Posey® pressure-sensitive pads are engineered for single-patient use, reducing the risk of cross-contamination and eliminating the need for complex cleaning protocols between patients. This standard wired model provides a reliable, direct connection to the monitor, ensuring immediate notification when weight is removed from the pad.
This sensor pad features a thin, low-profile design that minimizes patient discomfort and maintains the pressure-redistributing properties of existing chair cushions. When a patient shifts their weight off the pad, the integrated sensor triggers the fall monitor to provide an immediate audible or visual alert. This model is intended for short-term or high-turnover clinical settings where a reliable, disposable sensing solution is required to enhance patient safety and support "No Fall" protocols.
Key Features
-
Standard Wired Connection: Provides a secure, direct link to the fall monitor for consistent performance and rapid signal transmission.
-
Single-Patient Use Design: Specifically intended for use by one patient for the duration of their stay to prevent cross-infection and simplify infection control.
-
Pressure-Sensitive Trigger: Highly responsive sensors detect a patient’s weight and provide rapid notification to caregivers the moment weight is removed.
-
Compatibility: Designed to integrate seamlessly with Posey® KeepSafe®, KeepSafe® Deluxe, and Sitter Select® fall monitoring units.
-
Low-Profile Comfort: The thin construction allows the pad to be placed under the patient without significantly altering the feel or height of the seat cushion.
Ideal Clinical Applications
-
Acute Care Fall Prevention: Ideal for high-risk patients in med-surg or orthopedic units who require constant monitoring during chair seating.
-
Emergency Department Monitoring: Provides a rapid, disposable safety solution for confused or restless patients awaiting transfer or treatment.
-
Short-Term Rehabilitation: Supports fall management programs in facilities with high patient turnover where disposable sensors are more cost-effective.

Contraindications Do not use this sensor pad for patients who weigh less than the minimum weight threshold specified by the monitor. Do not use as a substitute for visual monitoring or required nursing rounds.
Warnings & Precautions CAUTION: This sensor is a supplement to, and not a substitute for, proper nursing care and supervision. Always test the sensor and monitor for proper function before each use and after every patient transfer. Ensure the cable is routed away from moving parts of the chair and is not in a position to be tripped over or pinched.
If the sensor pad is creased, folded, or submerged in liquid, it may fail to operate correctly or cause a false alarm. Replace the pad immediately if it is soiled, punctured, or if the "Replace By" date on the pad has passed. Single-patient use sensors are not designed for long-term use and must be disposed of after the patient is discharged.
Monitor patient skin integrity at the contact site. While the pad is thin, any interface between the patient and the seat should be checked regularly for signs of redness or pressure injury. Do not attempt to clean or reuse single-patient pads on a second patient.
