Posey® (TIDI Products) Lateral Wedge Bed Positioners (6309L) are specialized clinical tools designed to assist in the intervals of patient repositioning and pressure injury prevention. These Large wedges provide a stable, incline-based support system to help maintain a patient in a lateral position, effectively offloading pressure from the sacrum and other high-risk bony prominences. By providing a consistent 30-degree to 45-degree tilt (depending on placement), these wedges help healthcare facilities comply with clinical protocols for turning immobile patients.
The 19"L x 7"W x 9"H dimensions are specifically scaled to provide targeted support for the torso and hips of adult patients, ensuring the wedge remains secure and does not "bottom out" under weight. Each wedge is constructed with a high-density foam core that provides firm support while remaining lightweight for easy adjustment by nursing staff. The moisture-resistant, vapor-permeable cover is designed to be wiped clean with standard hospital disinfectants, ensuring a hygienic surface that helps manage the skin microclimate.
Key Features
-
Targeted Large Support: The 19-inch length provides precise stabilization for the back and pelvic regions of standard-sized adult patients.
-
High-Density Foam Core: Engineered to provide firm, durable support that maintains its shape and angle over long periods of use.
-
Moisture-Resistant Cover: Features a wipeable, medical-grade outer surface that protects the foam core from fluids and contaminants.
-
Non-Slip Design: The surface material is designed to provide enough friction against bed linens to prevent migration during patient movement.
-
Clinical Compliance: Supports "Turn Every 2 Hours" protocols by providing a reliable means of maintaining lateral tilt without the use of pillows.
Ideal Clinical Applications
-
Sacral Offloading: Used as the primary positioning tool to rotate patients off the sacrum to prevent or treat pressure ulcers.
-
Post-Surgical Positioning: Ideal for patients requiring specific lateral stabilization following orthopedic or spinal procedures.
-
Long-Term Care Immobility: Provides consistent support for bed-bound patients in nursing homes or home health settings to maintain skin integrity.

Contraindications Do not use this product for patients with unstable spinal fractures or other medical conditions where lateral positioning is clinically restricted. Do not use as a life-saving flotation device.
Warnings & Precautions CAUTION: Monitor patient skin integrity regularly at contact points. Ensure the wedge is positioned according to facility turning protocols to avoid unintended pressure points. Regularly inspect patient skin at all contact points; prolonged pressure from any device can lead to tissue compromise.
Ensure the wedge is placed over the bottom bed sheet and never in direct contact with broken or severely compromised skin. To prevent cross-contamination and ensure clinical efficacy, this wedge is intended for single patient use only.
Keep away from open flames or high-heat sources; while flame-retardant, the foam core can be damaged by excessive heat. Inspect the moisture-resistant cover regularly for punctures or tears; if the integrity of the cover is compromised, the wedge should be replaced to prevent internal foam contamination.
Wipe clean with hospital-approved disinfectant between uses for the same patient; do not launder or submerge the foam core in liquid.
