The Bionix DeClogger® (913) is a specialized, flexible medical device designed to restore the patency of obstructed gastrostomy (G), jejunostomy (J), and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tubes. Engineered with a proprietary threaded design, the DeClogger® (913) allows healthcare professionals to bore through tough occlusions—such as formula buildup or medication clogs—without the need for tube replacement. The tool features a flexible polypropylene shaft that conforms to the curvature of the feeding tube, minimizing the risk of internal damage or puncture.
Safety is integrated into the design via a built-in Stop Disc, which prevents over-insertion and ensures the device does not enter the patient's gastrointestinal tract. The blue-coded DeClogger® (913) is sized for PEG-style or replacement tubes that are shorter in length. Routine use of the DeClogger® (913) serves as a maintenance tool to avoid the formation of dense clogs, thereby reducing clinical interruptions and ensuring the consistent delivery of nutrients and medications.
Key Features
- Mechanical Deobstruction Versatility: Functions seamlessly as a specialized tool for clearing localized clogs within a designated clinical space.
- Threaded "Screw-Tip" Design: Facilitates easy, mechanical engagement with formula clogs to break them apart for subsequent flushing.
- Integrated Depth Markers: Provides a stable, visual reference for the clinician to track the insertion depth and avoid over-advancement.
- Standard Luer Connection: Outfitted with a safety disc to prevent over-insertion and provide a secure grip during the rotation and extraction process.
-
Reinforced Flexible Stem: Provides the structural integrity required to navigate tube bends while maintaining enough rigidity to apply pressure to the obstruction.
Ideal Clinical Applications
-
Large-Bore PEG and Replacement Tube Clearing: Sized for the shorter lengths and wider diameters typical of 20-22 FR PEG and replacement-style enteral tubes.
-
Medication Occlusion Removal: Clears tubes blocked by undissolved pill fragments or thick medication suspensions.
-
Preventive Maintenance: Used during routine tube care to ensure long-term patency and prevent biofilm accumulation.

Important Safety Information
The manufacturer's product & safety information can be found here.
Contraindications
Do not use this device in tubes smaller than 20 FR, as this can lead to tube rupture, entrapment of the tool, and significant patient injury.
Do not use this tool if the feeding tube is known or suspected to be malpositioned or if the integrity of the tube wall is compromised.
Do not use this device on nasogastric (NG) or nasojejunal (NJ) tubes. The DeClogger® (922) is sized for G, J, and PEG tubes and is not appropriate for the length or diameter requirements of nasal access lines.
Warnings & Precautions
Ensure the Bionix Declogger® is inserted with gentle pressure. Forcing the tool against a solid resistance is a high-risk perforation hazard.
Always ensure the tube is flushed with water after using the tool to remove any loosened debris that could cause a secondary obstruction.
Monitor the tool for signs of kinking or stress fractures during use. If the plastic stem shows signs of whitening or fatigue, the unit must be replaced immediately to prevent the tool from breaking off inside the feeding tube.
This device is designed for single-patient, single-use only. Reusing the tool can lead to cross-contamination between patients and a loss of mechanical integrity, increasing the risk of device failure.
