Dukal Everyday Care Sterile Gauze Sponges (8500) are high-quality, small-format dressings designed for aseptic medical procedures and precise wound care. Constructed from 100% woven cotton, these 8-ply sponges provide a soft, absorbent medium for managing minor bleeding or protecting small wound sites. Each 2-pack is individually wrapped in a peel-down pouch to maintain sterility, making them ideal for clinical tasks that require a strictly sterile environment.
The compact 2" x 2" size is specifically engineered for targeted applications, such as prepping injection sites, cleaning minor punctures, or covering small lacerations. To ensure patient safety, these sponges feature folded edges that minimize linting and prevent loose fibers from entering the wound bed. This sterile configuration is a cost-effective and essential supply for hospitals, dental offices, and outpatient clinics requiring reliable performance in a small footprint.

Contraindications
Do not use the sponges as a permanent internal packing material or long-term implant, as they are intended for temporary clinical wound management only.
Do not utilize the product if the individual sterile peel pouch is opened, torn, or otherwise compromised, as the sterility of the sponges can no longer be guaranteed.
Do not use this product on patients with known hypersensitivities to cotton fibers or woven materials.
Do not use these sponges for internal surgical packing or deep cavity placement unless specifically indicated by the attending surgeon.
Warnings and Precautions
Sterility is guaranteed only if the individual peel-down pouch is unopened and undamaged. Inspect the packaging before use; if the seal is breached, discard the sponges.
Ensure the wound site is evaluated by a clinical professional to determine the appropriate dressing change frequency based on the volume of exudate and stage of healing.
Monitor the dressing frequently for strike-through or saturation. If the gauze becomes saturated, it must be replaced immediately to prevent skin maceration and maintain a healthy healing environment.
Monitor the wound site regularly for signs of infection, such as purulent discharge, foul odor, or increasing heat. If symptoms persist, seek medical evaluation immediately.
Always dispose of used gauze sponges in accordance with facility biohazard waste protocols. Materials contaminated with blood or bodily fluids must be treated as potentially infectious.
This product is designed for single-patient, single-use only. Reuse of a sterile gauze sponge is a high-risk cross-contamination hazard and is strictly prohibited in any clinical setting.
If the gauze adheres to the wound bed, do not force removal. Saturate the sponge with sterile saline to ease the dressing away and prevent trauma to the regenerating tissue.
