This device is strictly for single-use only. Do not attempt to re-use or re-sterilize, as this increases the risk of cross-contamination and may result in mechanical failure or damage to the precision tip. Do not use for any application other than those for which the device is specifically indicated.
If blood or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is observed during placement, the needle has been incorrectly positioned and the procedure should be stopped immediately. Never pull an epidural catheter back through the Tuohy needle, as this may result in the catheter being sheared or cut. If insertion difficulties are encountered, the needle and catheter should be removed together as a single unit. Always verify the fit of the stylet before use and dispose of the sharp immediately after the procedure in an approved puncture-resistant container according to facility protocol.
