9304-1 - M.C. Johnson NG•SECURE® Nasogastric Tube Holder, 50/bx
Please note: All prices are for boxes.
The NG•SECURE® Nasogastric Tube Holder (9304-1) is a specialized securement device designed to provide a standardized and comfortable method for anchoring nasogastric and nasal feeding tubes. This device features a moisture-resistant foam cushion that serves as a protective barrier between the patient's skin and the tubing, specifically engineered to alleviate pressure on the nostrils and lips to help prevent pressure sores and skin breakdown. The adhesive base is designed to be applied to the patient's cheeks rather than the nose, which often presents challenges for securement due to natural skin oils.
The system utilizes a resealable tape flap that allows healthcare providers to readjust or reposition the tubing as necessary without removing the entire adhesive base. This functionality reduces the need for constant retaping, which can compromise skin integrity over time. The adhesive is medical-grade and hypoallergenic, designed to remain in place for approximately one week while maintaining a secure hold in the presence of humidified air or environmental moisture.
Constructed from lightweight, low-profile materials, the holder (9304-1) supports patient mobility and comfort while ensuring that enteral access lines remain properly positioned. The device is manufactured using an alcohol-soluble adhesive, which facilitates a clean and easy removal process when the securement needs to be changed or discontinued. This non-sterile holder is an essential tool for maintaining the patency and safety of nasogastric clinical pathways.
Key Features
-
Moisture-Resistant Foam Cushion: Functions seamlessly as a pressure-reducing barrier to protect the patient's sensitive nasal and labial tissues.
-
Resealable Securement Tab: Outfitted with a high-integrity adhesive tab that can be opened and closed multiple times for easy tube adjustment or hygiene.
-
Oil-Resistant Base Placement: Designed to adhere to the cheeks or forehead, avoiding the oily surfaces of the nose that frequently lead to premature securement failure.
-
Extended Wear Capability: Engineered to remain in place for approximately 7 days without compromising skin integrity or losing adhesive strength.
-
Hypoallergenic Construction: Provides a stable, safe securement tool for patients with sensitive skin or allergies to common medical adhesives.
Ideal Clinical Applications
-
Institutional Nasogastric Securement: Optimized for the fixation of NG-tubes for patients within institutional care suites to prevent accidental tube displacement.
-
Nasal Feeding Tube Management: Specifically indicated for the long-term stabilization of small-bore enteral feeding tubes in adult and pediatric patients.
-
Pressure Injury Prevention: Used in clinical settings to mitigate the risk of "trenching" or pressure-related skin breakdown at the insertion site.
-
Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care: Provides a secure, user-friendly alternative to traditional taping methods for patients with high-mobility or dermatological concerns.
-
Standardized Nursing Protocols: The NG•SECURE® allows for safer, more efficient clinical workflows by providing a uniform, reliable method for tube fixation across a facility.

Important Safety Information
Contraindications
Do not use this device on patients with known hypersensitivity to medical-grade adhesives or acrylic-based materials.
Do not apply this securement device over broken, infected, or severely compromised skin, as the adhesive may exacerbate the underlying condition.
Warnings & Precautions
Ensure the skin site is clean and completely dry before application. Moisture, oils, or topical ointments will significantly reduce adhesive performance and lead to tube migration.
Monitor the securement site at least once per shift for signs of redness, irritation, or skin stripping. If skin integrity is compromised, remove the device immediately and utilize an alternative securement method.
Always ensure the nasogastric tube is positioned without tension before locking the resealable tab. Excessive tension on the securement device is a high-risk factor for premature detachment and patient discomfort.
This device is designed for single-patient use. Reusing the adhesive base or tab on multiple patients is a high-risk cross-contamination hazard and will result in a loss of clinical securement integrity.
