Maxon™ Monofilament Synthetic Absorbable Sutures - Suture, Taper Point, Size 7-0, Green, 30", Needle CV-1, 3/8 Circle, 3 dz/bx
The Maxon™ monofilament synthetic absorbable suture is engineered from polyglyconate, a copolymer of glycolic acid and trimethylene carbonate. This specific composition is designed to provide the high initial tensile strength and prolonged strength retention necessary for closure of soft tissues that require extended support. Because it is a monofilament, Maxon™ offers a smooth passage through delicate tissues, significantly reducing tissue drag and minimize the risk of "sawing" or trauma compared to braided alternatives.
This specific configuration features an ultra-fine size 7-0 green strand with an extended 30-inch length, equipped with a CV-1 taper point needle on a 3/8 circle curvature. The ultra-fine gauge and precision needle are specifically designed for the most delicate surgical tasks where minimal tissue disruption is paramount. The synthetic nature of the polyglyconate material ensures a predictable absorption rate through hydrolysis, minimizing the inflammatory response typically associated with natural absorbable sutures. By delivering excellent handling characteristics and exceptional knot security, Maxon™ remains a preferred choice for general, cardiovascular, and gynecological surgeries.

Key Features
Polyglyconate Monofilament: Provides a smooth surface for effortless passage through tissue, reducing the risk of trauma or infection-harboring interstices.
Extended Tensile Strength: Formulated to maintain significant wound support during the critical healing period, offering higher strength retention than many other synthetic absorbable sutures.
Predictable Absorption Profile: Absorbs via hydrolysis with minimal tissue reaction; typically essentially complete between 180 and 210 days.
Excellent Handling & Knot Security: Offers the flexibility and "suppleness" required for easy knot placement and reliable stays, even in deep or high-tension closures.
CV-1 Taper Point Needle: Features an ultra-precision taper point on a 3/8 circle needle profile, optimized for the smooth penetration of the finest vascular and ophthalmic tissues.
Ultra-Fine 7-0 Gauge: Provides the lowest profile possible for microsurgical procedures and delicate pediatric cardiovascular applications.
Ideal Clinical Applications
Soft Tissue Approximation: Recommended for general soft tissue closure, including use in pediatric cardiovascular and peripheral vascular tissue.
Extended Support Closures: Ideal for tissues that heal slowly or require prolonged support, such as the fascia or abdominal wall.
Microsurgery & Ophthalmology: The 7-0 gauge is specifically suited for extremely delicate reconstructions where suture mass must be minimized.
Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery: Frequently utilized for small-vessel anastomoses in neonates and infants where growth accommodation is necessary.

Absorption Rate: Maxon™ sutures are designed to maintain approximately 80% of their initial strength at one week, 75% at two weeks, 65% at three weeks, and 50% at four weeks post-implantation.
Contraindications: Due to its absorbable nature, this suture should not be used where extended (permanent) approximation of tissue under stress is required, such as in certain cardiovascular or neurological applications.
Single Use Only: Do not resterilize. Discard any opened or unused suture.
