PICO◊ 14 - Single Use, Negative Pressure Wound Therapy System, 2 Dressings + 1 Pump Kit, 20cm x 20cm, 3 kt/cs

PICO◊ 14 (Smith & Nephew) is an advanced single-use negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) system specifically engineered for the management of low-to-moderately exuding acute, chronic, and surgical wounds. By delivering a continuous therapeutic pressure of -80 mmHg to the wound site, the PICO◊ 14 promotes granulation tissue formation and reduces edema, all without the necessity of bulky, external fluid canisters.

Integrated AIRLOCK◊ technology helps manage exudate through a combination of absorption and high-rate moisture vapor transmission, which facilitates the evaporation of moisture while maintaining an effective bacterial barrier to protect the wound environment. Designed for a 14-day treatment duration, this portable, silent, and lightweight pump maximizes patient mobility and compliance, significantly simplifying the clinical care pathway by reducing the requirement for frequent dressing changes while providing consistent, reliable negative pressure distribution across the wound bed.

Please note: All prices are for cases.

Key Features

AIRLOCK◊ Technology: Utilizes advanced dressing construction to distribute negative pressure evenly across the wound bed, preventing fluid pooling and maceration.

Canister-Free Mechanism: Eliminates the need for external fluid collection containers, significantly improving patient mobility, comfort, and ease of use.

Moisture Vapor Management: Manages exudate through high-rate moisture vapor transmission, allowing fluid to evaporate through the dressing.

Portable Pump Design: Features a small, lightweight, and silent pump that allows for discreet therapy, supporting better patient adherence to the treatment protocol.

14-Day Lifespan: Designed to operate for up to two weeks of continuous therapy, reducing the frequency of system replacements.

Ideal Clinical Applications

Surgical Incisions: Utilized to help reduce the incidence of post-operative complications, such as dehiscence and surgical site infection, in closed incisions.

Chronic Wound Management: Highly effective for the treatment of complex chronic wounds, including venous leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and pressure ulcers that benefit from the stimulation of active negative pressure.

Important Safety Information

To view the most current and up-to-date manufacturer's product information, please click here.

IMPLANTED DEVICES: The pump must be kept at least 4 inches (10 cm) away from other medical devices that could be affected by magnetic interference. This includes, but is not limited to: Pacemakers, Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICDs), neurostimulators, and cochlear implants.

POSITIONING: Failure to maintain the 4-inch safety distance could result in the failure or unintended operation of life-sustaining implanted devices.

MRI UNSAFE: The PICO 14 pump is MRI Unsafe. The pump must be disconnected and removed from the patient before they enter an MRI suite. The dressing, however, can typically remain in place.

Defibrillation Protocol: If defibrillation is required, the dressing should only be removed if its position interferes with the proper placement of the defibrillator pads.

Specific Contraindications: Do not use the PICO 14 system on wounds with malignancy in the wound bed or margins, previously confirmed and untreated osteomyelitis, non-enteric or unexplored fistulas, or over exposed arteries, veins, nerves, organs, or anastomotic sites.

Wound Fillers: For wounds deeper than 0.5 cm, a sterile gauze or foam NPWT filler must be used in conjunction with the PICO dressing to ensure adequate pressure transmission to the wound surface.

Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Contraindication: The PICO 14 System is strictly contraindicated for use in hyperbaric oxygen chambers. The device is not designed for such environments and is considered an explosion and fire hazard in oxygen-rich settings.

Wound Class and SSI Limitation: For the reduction of surgical site infections, the system is indicated for Class I (Clean) and Class II (Clean-Contaminated) closed incisions only. Its safety and effectiveness for Class III (Contaminated) and Class IV (Dirty/Infected) wounds have not been demonstrated for SSI prevention.

Hemostasis Requirement: Adequate hemostasis must be achieved at the wound site before application. The system is not for use on wounds with active or uncontrolled bleeding.

Pediatric Population Warning: The safety and effectiveness of the PICO 14 System have not been established in pediatric patients.
