The Solventum Fibracol™ Plus (SKU 2982) is a sterile, advanced primary dressing designed for the management of mid-sized partial- and full-thickness wounds. This specific 4" x 4 3/8" (10.2cm x 11.1cm) sheet configuration is composed of a unique matrix containing 90% bovine collagen and 10% calcium alginate. By combining the biological scaffold of collagen with the high-absorbency and gel-forming properties of alginate, Fibracol™ Plus creates a physiologically moist microenvironment that supports granulation tissue formation and epithelialization. This square-format dressing is engineered to maintain its structural integrity even when fully saturated, facilitating clean, one-piece removal and reducing the risk of fiber-shedding in the wound bed.
Key Features
- 90% Collagen / 10% Alginate Composition: Merges the structural benefits of collagen with the superior exudate-handling capabilities of alginate, making it significantly more absorbent than standard collagen-only dressings.
- Mid-Sized Square Footprint: The 4" x 4 3/8" dimensions are ideal for the majority of common wound geometries; the material is easily trimmed with sterile scissors to fit specific wound contours without fraying.
- Non-Adherent Gel Transformation: Upon contact with wound fluid, the dressing converts into a soft, conformable gel that protects delicate new tissue and ensures trauma-free removal during dressing changes.
- Hemostatic Properties: The inclusion of calcium alginate provides enhanced hemostatic support compared to collagen alone, assisting in the control of minor bleeding on the wound surface.
- Integrity in Saturated State: Designed to stay intact when wet, allowing for easy, complete removal and simplifying the wound-cleansing process by leaving no residual fibers behind.
Ideal Clinical Applications
- Moderate-Sized Pressure Injuries: A primary choice for Stage II, III, and IV pressure ulcers where a stable collagen scaffold is needed to support tissue regrowth and manage drainage.
- Diabetic Foot and Venous Ulcers: Provides essential moisture balance and structural support for chronic lower-extremity wounds that require a 24- to 96-hour treatment cycle.
- Surgical Dehiscence: Effectively manages surgical sites that have split, providing a moist environment and promoting granulation through secondary intention healing.
- Second-Degree Burns: Offers a protective, conformable, and breathable barrier for partial-thickness burns, facilitating rapid re-epithelialization.
- Donor Sites and Trauma: Protects the wound bed of skin harvest sites or traumatic lacerations while managing the initial high volumes of serous exudate.

Important Safety Information
Contraindications: Do not use on patients with a known sensitivity to collagen or alginates. Not indicated for the management of third-degree burns or wounds with active vasculitis.
Moistening Protocol: For wounds with minimal exudate, the dressing should be moistened with sterile saline immediately after application to initiate the gel-forming process and prevent adherence to dry tissue.
Secondary Dressing Requirement: Fibracol™ Plus is a primary dressing and must be covered with an appropriate secondary dressing (e.g., foam, hydrocolloid, or film) to maintain the optimal moisture balance.
Change Frequency: Reapply when the secondary dressing reaches capacity or according to facility protocol. Heavily exuding wounds may require daily changes, while moderate wounds can typically go 2 to 4 days between changes.
Infection Management: This dressing may be used on clinically infected wounds only when the underlying cause is being addressed by concurrent systemic medical therapy.
