Acelity Promogran® PRISMA Matrix Wound Dressing - 19.1" Sq, 10/bx, 4 bx/cs

Please note: All prices are for cases.

The Solventum Promogran Prisma™ Matrix (SKU MA123) is a sterile, advanced primary wound dressing engineered to "kick-start" stalled or chronic wounds. This specific configuration provides a surface area of 19.1 square inches (123 cm²), typically in a hexagonal shape. The matrix is composed of a specialized, freeze-dried composite of 55% Collagen, 44% Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose (ORC), and 1% Silver-ORC. This dual-action formula is designed to stabilize the wound environment by binding and inactivating proteases (MMPs) and elastase, while the ionically bound silver provides a sustained antimicrobial barrier. Upon contact with wound exudate, the matrix transforms into a soft, conformable, and biodegradable gel that intimately contacts all areas of the wound bed, promoting a physiologically moist microenvironment conducive to granulation and epithelialization.

Key Features

  • Triple-Action Matrix: Combines the biological scaffolding of collagen with the protease-modulating properties of ORC and the antimicrobial protection of silver.
  • 123 cm² (19.1 sq in) Coverage: Optimized for larger chronic wounds, providing extensive contact with the wound bed to address biochemical imbalances across the entire site.
  • Silver-ORC Technology: Contains 1% Silver-ORC (ionically bound), which provides a broad-spectrum antimicrobial barrier against common wound pathogens without the toxicity often associated with high-load silver dressings.
  • Protease Management: Specifically targets and neutralizes excess Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs) and other destructive components of chronic wound fluid that prevent progression to the proliferative phase.
  • Biodegradable Gel Transformation: Naturally absorbs into the wound bed over time, eliminating the need for painful mechanical removal and protecting delicate new tissue.

Ideal Clinical Applications

  • Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFUs): Highly effective for stalled diabetic ulcers where high protease levels or bioburden are impeding closure.
  • Venous Leg Ulcers (VLUs): Provides a stabilized environment for slow-healing venous wounds, managing both exudate and bacterial levels.
  • Pressure Injuries: Indicated for Stage II, III, and IV pressure ulcers that are clear of necrotic tissue but remain in a chronic inflammatory state.
  • Traumatic & Surgical Wounds: Ideal for dehisced surgical sites or traumatic injuries healing by secondary intention that require biochemical "re-balancing."
  • Stalled Chronic Wounds: Used as a "re-start" therapy for any wound that has failed to progress by 40-50% after 4 weeks of standard care.

Important Safety Information

Contraindications: Do not use on patients with a known sensitivity to collagen, silver, or oxidized regenerated cellulose. Not indicated for use on third-degree burns.

Secondary Dressing Requirement: Promogran Prisma™ is a primary dressing and must be covered with an appropriate secondary dressing (e.g., foam, film, or absorbent pad) to maintain the moist healing environment and secure the gel.

Wound Preparation: The wound bed must be clear of necrotic tissue and eschar before application. This dressing is not a debriding agent.

Moistening Protocol: For wounds with minimal exudate, the matrix should be moistened with sterile saline or Ringer's solution prior to application to initiate the gel transformation process.

Change Frequency: The dressing should typically be reapplied every 72 hours (3 days), or sooner if the secondary dressing is saturated. It is not necessary to remove any residual gel during changes; simply cleanse the wound and apply a fresh matrix.
