Micropore™ Surgical Tape - Paper Surgical Tape, 3" x 10 yds, 4 rl/bx, 10 bx/cs

Please note: All prices are for cases.

The Solventum Micropore™ Surgical Tape (1530-3) is a professional-grade, white paper surgical tape engineered for the securement of large-scale dressings and medical devices. As a highly breathable medical adhesive, it allows for the essential exchange of air and moisture vapor, which significantly minimizes the risk of skin maceration and supports the maintenance of the natural skin barrier. The hypoallergenic, pressure-sensitive acrylate adhesive is specifically designed to provide reliable long-term adhesion for up to 72 hours while remaining gentle enough for atraumatic removal from fragile, geriatric, or pediatric skin.

This specific 3-inch width configuration is the widest standard roll in the Micropore™ series, making it the primary choice for institutional settings requiring broad coverage, such as abdominal incision dressings or chest dressings. Its conformable paper construction allows the tape to adapt easily to significant body contours and joint movements without creating restrictive tension. The tape is also designed to maintain its adhesive integrity on damp or pre-prepped skin, ensuring a secure bond in various clinical conditions.

Key Features

  • Wide-Format Securement: 3-inch width provides maximum surface area for the fixation of bulky abdominal or post-surgical dressings.
  • Hypoallergenic and Non-Sensitizing: Specifically formulated for use on sensitive patients to reduce the risk of adhesive-related skin irritation.
  • High Breathability: Porous construction prevents moisture entrapment, promoting skin health during extended wear.
  • Pressure-Sensitive Adhesion: Delivers excellent initial tack and long-term security without requiring excessive force to remove.
  • Bi-Directional Hand Tear: Allows for rapid clinical application by hand without the use of scissors, even at the 3-inch width.

Ideal Clinical Applications

  • Chest and Orthopedic Dressings: Ideal for securing large-scale secondary dressings on flat or contoured anatomical sites.
  • Fragile and At-Risk Skin: Indicated for any patient population where repeated taping is necessary and skin integrity is compromised.
  • Secondary Device Fixation: Secures lightweight tubing and devices when a wider footprint is required for stability.
  • Abdominal Dressing Securement: Provides broad stabilization for large surgical incisions or chronic wound dressings.

Important Safety Information

Contraindications

Do not use this tape as a primary securement method for critical life-support equipment, such as endotracheal tubes or arterial lines, where a high-strength, high-tack adhesive is clinically mandated to prevent accidental decannulation or displacement.

Do not apply this product directly to infected wound beds, deep cavity wounds, or areas of active hemorrhage where more specialized primary dressings are required.

Warnings and Precautions

Do not apply Micropore™ tape under tension. Applying medical tape with "stretch" or pulling it tight across the skin can cause mechanical tension-induced skin injury, including localized blistering or epidermal stripping.

Ensure the application site is clean and dry prior to use. The presence of moisture, topical ointments, or oily residues will significantly degrade the performance of the pressure-sensitive acrylate adhesive.

For patients with extremely fragile or "tissue-paper" skin, use a medical adhesive remover during the removal process to further minimize the risk of epidermal stripping or skin tears.

Store the product in a cool, dry environment. Exposure to extreme heat or high humidity can degrade the chemical properties of the adhesive over time, leading to premature failure or residue transfer upon removal.
