The Solventum Micropore™ Surgical Tape (1533-0) is a professional-grade, tan-colored paper surgical tape specifically engineered for precision clinical use on patients with sensitive or at-risk skin. As a "breathable" medical adhesive, it facilitates the exchange of air and moisture vapor, which significantly reduces the risk of skin maceration during extended placement. The hypoallergenic, pressure-sensitive acrylate adhesive is designed to provide secure initial tack while remaining gentle enough for clean, atraumatic removal from fragile, geriatric, or pediatric skin.
This specific 1/2-inch width configuration is the narrowest standard institutional size, optimized for the precision securement of small dressings and lightweight medical devices in confined anatomical areas. The tan color offers a discreet, low-profile aesthetic for visible application areas, such as the face or neck, improving patient compliance in both outpatient and long-term care settings. Highly conformable to anatomical contours, Micropore™ 1533-0 provides a reliable secondary securement layer that supports the maintenance of the natural skin barrier during the healing process.
Key Features
- Hypoallergenic Adhesive: Formulated to be non-sensitizing and minimize the risk of allergic reactions in sensitive patient populations.
- High Moisture Vapor Transmission: Porous paper backing ensures skin health is maintained by preventing moisture buildup under the tape.
- Gentle Adhesion Profile: Delivers a secure bond for lightweight applications while protecting fragile or "tissue-paper" skin during removal.
- Hand-Tearable: Optimized for rapid clinical application without the need for surgical scissors.
- Discreet Tan Coloring: Provides a more natural skin-tone appearance compared to standard white paper tapes.
Ideal Clinical Applications
- Precision Fragile Skin Securement: Specifically indicated for geriatric and pediatric patients in small anatomical regions where wider tapes are impractical.
- Ophthalmic Applications: Frequently used for eye patches or shield securement due to its gentle nature and narrow profile.
-
Small Secondary Dressing Fixation: Secures lightweight gauze, non-adherent pads, and small facial dressings.
-
Frequent Dressing Changes: Best suited for wounds requiring daily access where the integrity of the periwound skin must be preserved.

Important Safety Information
Contraindications
Do not use this tape as a primary securement method for critical life-support equipment, such as endotracheal tubes or arterial lines, where a high-strength, high-tack adhesive is clinically mandated to prevent accidental decannulation or displacement.
Do not apply this product directly to infected wound beds, deep cavity wounds, or areas of active hemorrhage where more specialized primary dressings are required.
Warnings and Precautions
Do not apply Micropore™ tape under tension. Applying medical tape with "stretch" or pulling it tight across the skin can cause mechanical tension-induced skin injury, including localized blistering or epidermal stripping.
Ensure the application site is clean and dry prior to use. The presence of moisture, topical ointments, or oily residues will significantly degrade the performance of the pressure-sensitive acrylate adhesive.
For patients with extremely fragile or "tissue-paper" skin, use a medical adhesive remover during the removal process to further minimize the risk of epidermal stripping or skin tears.
Store the product in a cool, dry environment. Exposure to extreme heat or high humidity can degrade the chemical properties of the adhesive over time, leading to premature failure or residue transfer upon removal.
